Fashion Knitwear: I Finished My First Pair of Socks!

Do you know that feeling???  That feeling when you set out to accomplish a challenge and you finally succeed!  Well, that is how I feel about finishing my very first pair of socks!  I mentioned how I was starting on a pair in one of my earlier posts.  It actually went REALLY well.  I can't tell you how proud I was when the first one was almost completed.
You'll see the picture here to the left of when we were travelling from my parents house back to Charlotte (which is about a 4.5 hour drive).  I put it on to see where I was.  Look at how good it looks!  (Please ignore the purl ridge around the ankle...it's a design element!)  Don't you just love the self-striping yarn!  I didn't realize that it was going to look like fair isle...that was truly a nice added surprise. I also didn't realize how cool the background would be by putting my foot up on the dashboard!  It's actually pretty symbolic, don't you think?
A short time later I finished them...both of them.  Though my boyfriend didn't believe I'd finish them so soon.  I told him that my first pair would be for him, so he was looking forward to me finishing them nearly as much as I was!  Let me show you the results close up...

This one was the first one...can't you tell?  The ankle looks good and take a look at that turned heel!  THEN it happened...what?  I'm not quite sure, but a purl row appears out of nowhere.  Not too bad since it is black, but it's glaringly obvious to me because I know it is NOT supposed to be there.

It's a lot clearer now!

Now, here's sock #2, and it looks perfect!

And here they are together...
I'm very proud of these socks.  Let me know what you think!
